On occasion, the service processor (SP) might continue to fill the internal serial port connection with ONTAP software during a node shutdown. As a result, the SP might spend too much time inside the routine that tries to drain the serial port buffer. If the time spent passes a pre-determined threshold, the node might experience a system controller disruption during the shutdown.
